TARTE COSMETICS ARE having a one day only promotion where they are offering seven full sized products for €57. The idea of it is pretty cool, it’s like a pick ‘n’ mix, but with makeup. You get to select your seven pieces from seven different categories. But is this offer actually any good? Let’s take a look.

1. First you choose a makeup bag:

There are two options. A unicorn option or a simple purple one. If you need a makeup bag for travelling or leaving in a boyfriend/girlfriends house, then this is handy enough. If you already have plenty of makeup bags then this is pointless. The bags aren’t available to buy alone on the site, so to begin assessing the value of this deal I had to search for them on eBay, where they’re available for around €4.

2. For the next step, choose a foundation:

The four foundations on offer here are:

• Empowered hybrid gel foundation – €36
• Amazonian clay airbrush foundation – €35
• Confidence creamy powder foundation – €33
• Coloured clay CC primer – €13

So things could be going pretty well so far, unless of course you wanted the CC primer and had no use for a makeup bag. Then this deal isn’t really very exciting yet.

3. Now select a blush:

Above are 8 of the 9 colours of their Amazonian clay blush that you can choose from. The shades are: pink berry, blushing bride, rosy red, light pink, bright rose, shimmering peachy pink, achiote and pink coral. Individually, a lot of these are marked as out of stock but they’re priced at €28 each.

There’s actually a huge selection on colours here for each of the products so this one will definitely have something for everyone.

5. Select an eyeliner:

Five eyeliners to choose from here:

Again, there’s a decent amount of variety here.

Again, that’s a fair amount of selection.

7. Finally, pick a brush:

So the final result is:

• Maximum value: €169 – saving a total of €110
• Minimum value: €104 – saving a total of €47

So at €57, you’re guaranteed to save money if you buy all seven of the products included in the custom kit. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that if you don’t need certain products e.g. if you don’t wear blush or don’t need brushes, it may just be worth your while to buy the products you want individually.

The ad itself claimed that the products had a combined value of over €185 and as you can see there’s a bit of a discrepancy between the final figure here and their advertised maximum savings. This is because many of the products were actually on sale, so the total maximum value fell a little bit short of that figure.

If you need seven of Tarte’s products, this is a pretty good deal. However, if you don’t it’s probably not worth breaking the bank just to end up with 3 products you actually want with a combined value of less than €57 and 4 that you’ll never use.
